When I worked for a tax prep business, I got an hourly wage, plus commission. (The commission got bigger the longer you were there).
It's not bad money – but it is seasonal. Still – a good skill to have, for your own sake (not having to pay someone else to do your own), and for something to fall back on, or adding part-time work during the "season".
